Following yesterday’s Part (I) responses to Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala’s talk is a contribution by a foreigner (Non Nigerian/African)
I do not want to preempt you, as usual I will leave you to be the judge. Please leave a comment, let us know your thoughts on this all important Nigeria and Africa discus.
Here is the response from:
Meniru Anigbo said it impeccably! I take my hat to you. You hit the nail on the had! I was going to make some of the comments you presented; however I felt would be better to wait for a Nigerian to do that. You went beyond what I would have done.
Now I can say: How can a person with the background that she has really serve Nigerians? She has been trained to think, act and promote western values. And part of Western values is corruption, secrecy, limiting laws for public information ( this month the British Columbia government changed the FOIA law to exempt some institutions from it); spying on dissidents and murdering them (http://www.cbc.ca/canada/story/2006/02/26/dudley-george-060226.html
and http://www.ipperwashinquiry.ca/ ); Judi Bari ( http://www.monitor.net/monitor/bari/ ) Karen Silkwood ( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0086312/http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0086312/ and http://findadeath.com/Deceased/s/Karen%20Silkwood/karen_silkwood.htm ); scandals such as : Abramoff scandal ( http://www.indianz.com/Politics/Abramoff/), financial scandals
( http://www.ex.ac.uk/~RDavies/arian/scandals/ ) vote scandals (http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/article1719907.ece ) pension scandals (http://www.pensionsorter.co.uk/pensions_scandals.cfm#p ), Canadian scandals by Federal and provincial governments (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Canadian_political_scandals )
US scandals ( http://americanhistory.about.com/od/scandals1/Scandals_in_American_History.htm ). So Europeans and their descendants Americans/ Canadians went/ go to the African continent to remove resources from people (slavery) to minerals (Canadian mining companies support to murder e.g. Tanzania massacre or how the British dealt with the Mau Mau revolution, Apartheid in South Africa, the use of Congo by King Leopold or the use of French speaking country by France, just to name a few).
Ms. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweta is just a token poster “child” for the elite of her country and for the financial world that props the murderous and corrupt regime in Nigeria and most countries in Africa.
To use a saying from a western icon, Einstein : Any fool can make things bigger, more complex and more violent. It takes a touch of genius and a lot of courage to move in the opposite direction.
Albert Einstein or “We can’t solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them.” ( more quotes http://rescomp.stanford.edu/~cheshire/EinsteinQuotes.html ).
One very important aspect of Western destruction machine is the media and here is one example how they do it: http://www.yale.edu/lawweb/jbalkin/articles/media01.htm .I hope that Ms. Okonjo-Iweda doesn’t feel ofended by my words. However it is very hard for African countries to break the yoke of corruption, the same is for western and asian countries. Without corruption hot money would not be available for it ( see R.T. Naylor Hot money and the politics of debt
http://mqup.mcgill.ca/book.php?bookid=1714 It becomes very clear that corruption is endemic because the way financial institutions are structured. In order to create a corruption free Nigeria, there is a need to clean up financial house. Therefore demanding that Nigeria and African countries clean their corruption would be impossible to deal with the corrupt west.
My question is: If I, an Afghan farmer, can get well informed, what is stopping the elite from doing the same?
The answer is simple: Ted and most of its followers do not want to give up the commodification of life and all species that humans commodify. The human elite primary goal is to create suffering and make money with the suffering. Sufferers are also a commodity.
If Ms. Okonjo-Iweala was really effective she would be dead like Saro Wiva.
This coin seem not to have just two sides, the other side of the coin you will know tomorrow hopefully, do check back for the concluding part of the responses.
