The 7 Point Agenda Of The Yar’Adua Administration

February 26, 2008 by User ImageOCI

Now that the semi-final stage of the Presidential election tribunal have passed, I think it is time we remind ourselves and President Yar’Adua that there is a country (Nigeria) to run and he has an agenda to implement.

For Starters, the Agenda herewith:

    1. Energy: We need to solve the problem of power and energy – National Council on Energy to drive the energy policy and advice on power, energy and gas… energy emergency to be declared.

    2. Security: Treating security as a critical Infrastructure.

    3. Wealth Creation: 70% of all revenue comes from oil; need to keep this focused and extended to other areas.

    4. Education: Need to address the various problems in the education sector.

    5. Land Reform: To provide proper ownership and give a chance to take the land to capital market.

    6. Mass Transit: To develop capacity for mass movement of goods and people.

    7. Niger Delta: To implement the master plan already developed.

    Conditions Precedent:

    a. The Issue of Law: “We need to become a nation that respects law, order, established regulations and procedure”.

    b. The Issue of Planning: “We must have a plan that is clear, unambiguous, sincerely and genuinely drawn up and that has the real potential of taking us to the objective”.

    c. The Issue of leadership and hard-work: “We must have the commitment to work hard and provide leadership”.

    What is needed?

“We need to provide the correct leadership and we need to ensure the correct conduct and the correct attitude and we need to plan well towards our objectives … to lay a solid foundation for building a modern industrialized nation that will meet the developmental needs of our people, their educational needs, their health needs and their psychological needs … and develop the environment for them to grow and develop their potentials”.

The urgency of the time demands that President Yar’Adua should settle down to pilot the affairs of this country (Nigeria); despite our collective acknowledgment including his that the process that entrusted him on all of us cannot pass the ‘FAIR’ test. We expect him not to give up on finding ways to help our electoral democracy through guided reforms. This is not a case of winner takes all nor enough justification to be callous; for we all know the law to be an ‘ass’ and it reliance on the ‘burden of proof’ that lies with the appellants. Thus, the question of ‘proof beyond reasonable doubt’ that killed the petition.

Mr President, herewith your Agenda in case you have forgotten.

Maybe the government bite much more than they can chew. Or maybe they just need to give the Nigerian people something to talk about. Seen this in too many iterations…

Good agenda, but nothing on healthcare in this 7-point agenda. Probably encrypted in one of them. Issue of health should not be treated with kid’s gloves. A healthy nation is a wealthy nation.

may god give the president healthy living. But i think mr president should reduce those agenders from seven to only one, because there are alot of criminals sorrounding him that need to be wiped out from the system. The only agender is the MENTAL REFORMS OF THE NIGERIAN LEADERS.

Well, the 7 P. agender is a good one, but i hope this is a way of showing idiocyncrasy of our political leader who would promise us and at the end of the day we will not see any thing to count on. This is his more than one year in the office, yet nothing nothing the which we need despirately. Or is it his ECONOMY! ECONOMY!! ECONOMY!!! he promised us? Please action speaks lauder than words, he should do & not his “buldogs” singing 7 P. Agender

Because several ideas like this have been emback upon, but the injection of wrong persons fustrate the whole efforts. You see what i mean! if they fixe in good persons no mater their political affiliation,Nigeria will fly like the eagles wings. And our president, Umaru Musa Yar’ Adua, will be seen as the real hereo Nigeria long be waiting for.

well its quit obviouse that mr president is working hard but yet i think his effort is not good enough for the Niger Delta’s, he should at least look into the region and know what the majority wants not what those greedy politicians will present befor him. he should have the capability of simple humanity, in terms of passing judgement puting him self in the shoes of the Niger Delta’s, and knowing that those leaders so to say are not sincere to there people and in that puting his leadership into risk of runing lost at every second of the day. i believe there are alot of people out there who dont even know that the region are intitled to 13% from the Nigeria deriviation. i sugest that Mr President should give the grass root the mandate for development of there areas, and more also put more fund in there alocation, to enable them work, for instant the council boss of ASARI TORU LOCAL GOVERNMENT OF RIVERS STATE, HON. OJUKAYE FLAG AMACHREE is a leader with vision and for the fact that he has the peoples mandate i think he his really working much more than some ex-governors, just with the little alocation he his been given so tel me if he has some thing more than that imagin what he his going to do with.
the state lack the true chanel to reach there towns and villages and also just because there in the city they think every thing ends their in the city, not being eble to not the proplems of there rural areas and again i think the ministry of rural area development should been aboleashed cause their making no imparts in the rural areas so insted of wasting money and time i think that ministry should go. i think if i should being stating the problems of the Niger Delta region i will not getup from this computer but for the fact that after wasting much time and money for time online the problem will still remain thesame i just have to go. please Mr. President give proper attention the the region and solve our problem and forget about the greedy politicians and use people like HON. OJUKA FLAG AMACHREE to transform the region into a better place for your citizens to leave as HOME.

    THANKS AND GOD BLESS.

This is reminiscent of having a project plan in the hands of a bad project manager. If, after a year, there is no quantifiable evidence of the inception of the agenda then it is similarly as inconsequential as that of some of his predecessors.
The magnitude of socio-economic problems that besets Nigeria is such that just about anything put forward as a progress path is appeasing to the people.
There comes a time when Nigerians should stop settling for less, only then will the change that Nigeria so desires come to bear. As such, we are collectively responsible for making that change.

It is unfortunate to state here that the “alledged” 7 point agenda of Baba-go-slow has finally turned into a cliche for most Nigerians.
    Energy: Please Hold Candle Nearby
Security: We are always waiting for the “big bros” to come and claim what belongs to us.
Wealth Creation: Actually the rich are getting richer. Thank God for the Global meltdown!
    Education: Teachers are on Strike!
Land Reform: Its acheivement: The poor man’s hope of having one a daydream
Mass Transit: Actually there has been recorded success in chasing away the poor from the city!
Niger Delta: May they not end up kidnapping our president.

The major problem of Nigeria has not been solved which is the problem of ELECTRICITY which is delaying the growth of more INDUSTRIES in Nigeria thereby creating an EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY for Nigerians.

The Seven Points Agenda of the President are all ok, but the President did not mention anything about YOUTH EMPOWERMENT PROGRAMME which i think should be the No. 1 agenga of Mr President. The Nigeria Youth should be given the oppurtunity to be empowered, because the future of this great Nation lies on the Nigerian Youth which are the future Leaders.

  31. Dosunmu E. Olufemi on May 27th, 2009 9:38 am

The 7 point agenda must not be overridden by 2011 election at this critical time- although none has been totally achieved in the agenda but something can still be done reasonably in this short period remaining. PDP agenda for 2011 (…..do or die Agenda) must not be allowed to derail the presidential 7 point focus. Therefore,Mr president let it be ‘country first’ and not ‘Party first’. I pray that wisdom required be granted you from above. Let us make Nigeria great again and posterity will ink our history on a golden indellible marble.

  35. cookie on June 27th, 2009 2:57 pm

i luv Nigeria n i’ll always be proud of this great Nation come rain come shine. The only problem i seem to have with her is the presense of sycophants and criminal minded executives who have vowed to enrich themselves and family to the detriment of the ordinary citizenry. We must accept the “CHANGE” option if this Nation must grow.

  36. Nasiru Ibrahimn Kangiwa on June 30th, 2009 11:54 am

I think we have to give Mr. President a little more time in order to start seeing the benefits of the seven points agenda. Take an example NEPA which was totally down will take a lot time before it was revived.

    Thank you.

  39. chima( who am i) on October 16th, 2009 5:50 pm

how can a hole seven point Agender not having any thing in the health care forum in our beloved country Nigeria ,and you have an Agender were wealth creation comes before education if the people are not educated how do you want them to manage their wealth? that its why eradicating poverty in Nigeria to day has not been easy.

  40. Timothy Adidi on October 22nd, 2009 7:28 am

The seven point Agenda is fraudulent, deceptive, misguided presentation of political plan, in fact it is the height of the games played by politicians to subject us in a more difficult situation. lt is obvious that President Musa Yar’adua can never meet up to that Agenda, and not even the first plan has been implemented. Nigerians for how long shall we be fooled by this group of Babangida and Obasanjo’s boys in power. We will remain like this in the next twenty years, and not until there is a revolution to unseat this conglomerated corrupt thieves in power. They are a brand of political demons that need to be exorcise through barrels of the pen. This is the only way we can change the corrupt system as we fight the good fight of political recovery in Nigeria. The media are a good tool for this project, and l tell you so far l commend the good works of AIT and other private media in this struggles.

We have to begin this struggles from all works of life, and there should be no sitting on the fence. Anyone who sits on the fence is not fit for the political kingdom this revolution will bring to bring to book our past leaders and the role the played in putting this government in the doldrums of poverty and hunger.

  41. danlami idris harbo on October 22nd, 2009 12:52 pm

    Dear our able president,
to be sencirely speaking, our country is highly corrupted which is enabling you and your government to move no where. i think all about seven point agenda is useless due the mentioned disease of nigeria and nigerians. furthermore, i personally advice Mr. President to speak to all nigerian people upon the attitudinal changes since at the level of individual, group and the nation as whole.
i finally want to conclude by saying, Mr. President, please and please assist less priviledge and poorer populations, am not saying you should give them money NO and NO through the provision of good electrifications, standard water supply, good heathcare and roadnetwork. becouse failure to solve the populations responsibility will precipitate an individual to face mighty stresses and strain not herein the world but in the DAY OF JUDGEMENT whereby each person most give his own personal accountability. i have to stop by closing with prayer less GOD ALMIGHTY PERMIT AND ASSIST YOU to do what you can and leave rest to HIM.
    thank you
    My Beloved President
