PDP thunders; Our Opponents are lazy

Basking in the euphoria of the double kangaroo victories at the electoral tribunals and Nigerians docile silence, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has accused other political parties of being both physically and intellectually lazy. The Deputy National Chairman of PDP, Dr. Bello Haliru Muhammed, said this while inaugurating a 51-man committee to plan the 10th anniversary celebration of the party. Dr. Muhammed, berated the double speak of other parties, who hail the judiciary once a PDP victory is nullified and cry foul when the scale of justice tilts toward the PDP.
We at whichwaynigeria, agree with the PDP on this score. The opposition should have rejected the election in its totality rather than allowing the judiciary to give a toga of legality to an illegality. In all the nullified elections of April 2007, the PDP has won the by-elections conducted. The most ludicrous for the opposition is the victory of the PDP in Adamawa state, where Atiku Abubakar, the presidential flag bearer of the Action Congress (AC) was a Governor elect before he joined Olusegun Obasanjo as a running mate in 1999 General Election.
The Deputy National Chairman, further said that the victory of the PDP across Nigeria, show that PDP has broken the jinx of tribalism in Nigerian Politics. He fraudulently drew comparison from the pre-independence following of the NCNC-East, AG-West and NPC-North. On this score, we take exception. The ethnicity in Nigerian politics of the pre-independence was born out of mutual dis-trust among the ethnic groups. Each wanted to become the new colonizer, so as to lord it over the others and have a mountainous share of the mansions in Ikoyi and the oil wealth of the Niger Delta.
The seeming acceptance of the PDP, is akin to the peaceful co-existence of the fire and the pot. PDP is accepted by the elite as a tool to subjugate the people. Having benefited from Army Arrangement in 1999, the PDP uses the state apparatus of terror to rig election and cow the people. Dr. Muhammed, should be made to understand that there is no acceptance of the PDP at the grass root. What we have is a zombie political behaviour. PDP having amassed the wealth of the Nation (All PDP leaders are Government contractors or served questionably as minister or head of a government agency), muscle out other parties from the political field.
If it were in other clime that these stench oozing out from the National Assembly is traced to the ruling party, that marks the beginning of the end of that government. If not a vote of no confidence (in a Parliamentary System of Government) or total rejection at the next general election (in a Presidential System), there would have been mass protest to sack the government by the common people.
Be this as it may, other political parties, should wake up to this challenge by the PDP and call their members off the Government of National Unity (GNU) and start a viral opposition politicking in order not only to give Nigerians a robust political climate, but a guaranteed rainfall of dividends of democracy.
