This news broke about two months ago, last April precisely.
It may no longer be news to most people that heard the news when it initially hit the headlines. Ask for me, it is re-assuring to know that despite the difficulties we have as a people and a nation coupled with the dilapidation that has become the bane of education in Nigeria; there remains a beacon of flashing light beyond the tunnel.
I accidentally came across the news while searching for information online. Honestly, I missed the news when it first broke; as I traced it backwards I was elated to discover that Guardian carried the news earlier. However, my source was Javalobby, their source in turn was Nigeria-German Business Group. In spite of the message and the messengers, my happiness is that given the same time and opportunity; we can go places and even do better than our avowed competitors. Read more
The Nigeria Question (?)

This is one of those over-flogged phrases people and politicians alike are always using to drive home their points when discussing matters that are either sentimental or passionate to them as individual or group as it affects their continued existence or partnership to the ‘Nigeria Project’.
The Nigeria Project as it is means different things to different people and i dare to say that ones position or status at any given time goes a long way to determine ones support or lack of it to the ‘project’. These different people as stated could be politicians (in /out of power), successful business executives, paupered students, over-work and under-paid civil servants/worker; all entertain different views when matters of our common interest as a people are being discussed. It gladens my heart to see that there are Nigerians of like mind asking the above passionate question and going extra miles to delve into the immediate and remote causes of our under performance and non-utilization of our human and capital resources; stunted growth in terms of nation building , economic emancipation etc.
Broda Ukpong has spoken, invariably he has join in the talk, he is taking part in the walk also there is no doubt about his readiness to involve himself. How about you fellow, Nigerian? Let us talk, walk and involve!
Arise for Comrade Edo Ukpong:
‘He that will make his liberty secure must guard even his enemy from oppression; for if he violates this duty, he establishes a precedent that will reach to himself.’—–Thomas Paine
Thomas Paine was a radical intellectual writer mainly on ethics and politics. Although English by birth he emigrated to what is now the United States of America and his writings helped inspire the American Revolution.’ He is the author of the phrase ‘These are the times that try men’s souls’. “Common Sense” is the title of his most popular writing. Nothing best describes the way he simplifies complex societal issues like that title. That kind of simplicity is what we need to understand what is happening to this country.

The clock started ticking for President Umaru Yar’ Adua a little after mid-day on the 29th of May, 2007; when he was formally inaugurated as the President and C in C of the Armed Forces and Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Beyond our expectations he embarked on foreign trips to ‘ meet and greet’ his brother/sister leaders; the reason for this ritual by our leaders as originated by erstwhile President Obasanjo still baffles most Nigerians as well as our observers. In the opinion of most commentators, the president elect should have occupied himself with the task at hand; consultating stakeholders, marathon meetings, seperating the political wheats from the chaffs, marking out the ‘politigans’ (political hooligans) for rehabilitation as well as thinking through the ‘ Nigerian Project’ and fine-tunning his ‘ master plan’.
