Saddam Hanged

December 31, 2006 by User ImageOCI · Leave a Comment

It was the end of an era in Iraq, when the noose tightened around the neck of Saddam Hussein.

At least he was granted the honour of being laid to rest near his two late sons.

However, the violence in Iraq has not abated since hanging him. All parties involved in building a new Iraq are still hopeful things will turn around at least for the better.

Above all the Iraqi people deserve more than they are getting at the moment, we appeal to all involved to work harder to return the country to normalcy sooner than later.

Saddam on Death-Row

December 29, 2006 by User ImageOCI · Leave a Comment

Is it really, the end of an era?

The next few hours seem uncertain for the strong man of Iraq, having been sentenced to hang almost two months ago. The Prime Minister of Iraq have signed the execution order earlier today.

It will be matter of hours before the noose tightens around the neck of Saddam Hussein.

Once again, the signal is being sent out to all men and women in positions of authority that arrogates power to kill and miam to themselves; that justice can only be delayed it can never be denied.Ads by AdGenta.com

Court Restores Obi as Governor

December 28, 2006 by User ImageOCI · Leave a Comment

The Guardian Newspapers reports that the impeached Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi has been restored by a High Court in Anambra this Thursday. The paper further reports that the “judge maintained that the legislators did not follow the constitutional provisions necessary for the impeachment of a sitting governor” citing that the “the House acted in flagrant abuse of Section 188 (1-9) of the 1999 constitution. He frowned at the method of service of the court process on Obi, contending that he (the governor) ought to be served personally as expressly provided in the constitution”.

This brings to an end the fifty-two (52) days reign of Her Excellency Dame Virgy Etiaba. The questions to be asked now are: Will she revert to her former position as the Deputy Governor or fight? and What was the wisdom behind APGA’s chieftains decision to rush her into office? So much for history being made, afterall!!!

As you ponder on these questions and many others, it is yet another kudos to the men sitting behind the bench. Hopefully, with their support and courageous judgements the last of the common man may not have been heard afterall.Ads by AdGenta.com

Is VP Atiku Abubakar on the RUN!

December 24, 2006 by User ImageOCI · Leave a Comment

It seems all is not well with Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s ultimate ambition to rule Nigeria.

Less that 48hrs after accepting to run for the highiest office in Nigeria under the Action Congress (AC); the NEC of his former party, the PDP advised the president to expel him from the party and declare the office of the Vice President vacant.

Having travelled to the United States of America less than 24hrs ago, President Olusegun Obasanjo did not hesitate to declare the office of the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria vacant; and have resumed consultation on selection of an acceptable replacement. Read more

Excellent Gamblers

December 6, 2006 by User ImageOCI · Leave a Comment

Are we really witnessing a situation whereby men are no longer behaving like men; not just men literally, but men that have their mind fixed on something and will go all out to get it. The way and manner politics in Nigeria is playing out in recent times, one is akin to wonder, if really these people are politicians or gamblers. Never mind, between you and me the words are synonymous as a matter of fact. However, bad the gambler maybe; the politicians are still acceptable at least in our society dis-regarding the fact that we did not vote some of them in.

The incumbent governors having transformed into ‘His Excellency’ gamblers are trying to cross the 2007 bridge with ‘two-feet’. Some have purchased the presidential nomination forms of their parties; and are either campaigning for votes or using it as a bond in the would be ‘horse trading’ that will ensue shortly. These category of trader-politicians last weekend, as we gather have also secured their party’s senatorial nominations in their different constituencies by proxy. The question then is, what are these people really afraid of that they cannot afford to be out of government? Read more
